Be faithful in life's daily activites
By PASTOR LEON YODER Greencastle Church of the Brethren

A pastor was once asked to define "Faithful Attendance at Worship," and this was his reply:

All that I ask is that we apply the same standards of faithfulness to our church activities

that

we would in other areas of our life. That doesn't seem too much to ask. The church, after all, is concerned about faithfulness.

Consider these examples: If your car started one out of three times, would you consider it faithful? If the paperboy skipped Monday and Thursdays, would the paper be missed? If you didn't show up for work two or three times a month, would your boss call you faithful? If your refrigerator quit a day now and then, would you excuse it and say, "Oh, well, it works most of the time." If your water heater greets you with a cold shower one or two mornings a week, would it qualify as being faithful? If you miss a couple of mortgage payments per year, would your mortgage holder say, "Not a problem, ten out of twelve isn't too bad."?

Dear reader, how faithful are you in your daily life's activities? Can you be counted upon to consistently follow through with your responsibilities? If you are a part of local congregation, I want to encourage you to apply the same standards of faithfulness to your church activities that you would to other areas of your life. If you are not a part of a congregation, I encourage you to seek one out and experience the joy of a relationship with God and fellowship with others who do the same.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 13:44, "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field." When we have found a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we have truly found the greatest treasure possible. Let us respond with faithful worship attendance and dedicated service for Him.
