Mary E. Daugherty Mary E. Daugherty, 99, a resident of Quincy Village and formerly of Buchanan Trail East, Greencastle, died at 2:25 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2007 in the nursing home. Born Oct. 25, 1907 in Paramount, Md., she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Jennie May (Trovinger) Hykes. She and her husband M. Earl Daugherty were married Feb. 18, 1930 in State Line, Pa. He died Oct. 10, 1986. Mrs. Daugherty was a long time member of the former Trinity United Brethren Church in State Line, where she was a member of the Sunshine Workers Bible Class. She was employed as a seamstress for over 20 years at the former Stanley Company of Chambersburg. Mrs. Daugherty was a member of the former Greencastle Chapter of the AARP and enjoyed gardening and flowers. She is survived by a son, Melvin E. Daugherty of Boonsboro, Md.; two daughters, Dorothy Talhelm of Chambersburg and Joyce Welling of Boonsboro; a brother, Edgar Hykes of Waynesboro; a sister, Elva Fahnestock of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Earl and Roy Hykes; and one sister, Lelia Daugherty. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 3 in the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle with Rev. J. Herman Fisler and Pastor Gregory Kell officiating. Burial will be in the Beautiful View Cemetery, Washington County, Md.
