P o l i c e r e p o r t s Greencastle Borough Police recently released the following incident reports: Heather Margarito, 26, Fayetteville, and Robert Lee Suders, Jr., 26, Chambersburg, were charged with robbery and theft following an incident in the parking lot of Food Lion, 500 N. Antrim Way, on Aug. 26. Police responded to a call at 4 p.m. in which Jacqueline Greenawalt told police she was loading groceries into her vehicle when Suders allegedly ran up and grabbed her purse. He jumped into a vehicle driven by Margarito, and they fled. Greenawalt and a witness gave descriptions of the suspects and the vehicle, a green Dodge with body damage. While still interviewing, police heard on the county radio that the Pennsylvania State Police were pursuing the suspected vehicle. It left the road and stopped in a field. The suspects were apprehended with the help of the Chambersburg K-9 unit. A personalized check and a credit/debit card belonging to Greenawalt were found in the car. An officer responded to a call to the Chinese Restaurant at 2 Center Square at 5:21 p.m. on Aug. 31. The owner reported that someone had recently struck and damaged a light pole in front of the store. An unknown vehicle apparently backed into it, knocking it down and destroying the lamp portion. A two-vehicle accident in the 300 block of East Baltimore Street and North Linden Avenue resulted in one citation on Sept. 1. Kevin Montgomery, 37, Montgomery Church Road, had stopped his 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer at a crosswalk for a pedestrian at 9:33 a.m. He was struck from behind by Cynthia Alvarez, 20, 2045 Farmall Dr., driving a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse CP. Alvarez said she was distracted when she changed the radio station and did not have time to stop. Her vehicle sustained front bumper and hood damage. She was charged with reckless driving. Kevin Tressler, 31, 809 Franklin Court, faces multiple charges after a traffic stop at 3:01 a.m. on Sept. 2. Police pulled him over as he traveled east on East Baltimore Street in a 1995 Honda sedan. He had been observed allegedly committing several driving offenses. The officer noticed the driver had bloodshot, glassy eyes and slurred speech, and also observed two baggies of suspected marijuana, a glass pipe, and a half-empty beer container in the vehicle. Tressler was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, refusing to submit to chemical testing, and various traffic violations. Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg recently issued the following news releases (Information on any of the cases should be called to police at 264-5161.): Jingfu Huang, 36, Monterey Park Calif. was charged with possession of four cartons of untaxed cigarettes. Police said they were discovered in his commercial vehicle during an inspection at the Interstate 81 weigh station at mile marker 7 at 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 6. A vehicle was stopped for traveling 100 miles per hour on I-81 at 8:20 a.m. on Sept. 6 in Antrim Township. Occupants of the vehicle were the driver, Winston Irons, 33, and Jose Cruz, 32, and Dennis Brown, 28, all of Clarksburg, W. Va. During a search, cocaine was allegedly discovered in the trunk. All three were arraigned before Judge Carter, with bail set for $200,000 each. No charges were filed at the request of the victim in a theft/harassment incident on Sept. 8. Police were called to 441 Williamson Road at 12:30 p.m. Brien Plank, 29, was head-butted by an unknown black, non-Hispanic male when Plank tried to stop Kristi Plank, 33, from stealing half a gallon of gasoline to fuel her vehicle. A 1986 Buick LeSabre sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene of a single car accident on Zarger Road on Sept. 8. Joshua Adam Pettyjohn, 20, Greencastle, was traveling west at 8:25 p.m. and allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign at Brown's Mill Road. He struck a telephone pole. He suffered a minor injury due to lack of seat belt use, according to police. A passenger, Stacy Marie Smith, 19, Fort Loudon, was not injured. Someone entered a fencedin yard at 656 Hykes Road between 3 p.m. Sept. 6 and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 7, and stole items valued at $350. Mary Gay reported that the items missing were a wheelbarrow, shovel, pick, rake, edging tool, hand spade, weed cloth, hand sheers, five-gallon gas container, and four large flower pots. |
