Martin Luther King service project AT G-AHS benefits food pantries

Greencastle-Antrim High School students collected 15 boxes of food during a recent home basketball game against James Buchanan High School, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The canned goods and other non-perishable food items were delivered to two local food organizations – the Greencastle and St. Thomas food pantries. Spectators who brought canned food items received $1 off the price of admission to the middle school and high school basketball games on January 20.

Unbeaten G-A to make ‘Dunks for Drew’ in Chambersburg Saturday

Undefeated Greencastle-Antrim will be involved in the fifth annual Dunks for Drew varsity boys’ basketball showcase that will be held Saturday, Feb. 4 at Chambersburg Area Senior High School featuring a quadruple-header that raises money for the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation of Shippensburg.

Tubing fundraiser moved to Feb. 6

Due to the rain last Thursday, the Grove Family Fund Spirit Night for snow tubing at Whitetail Resort was postponed to Monday, Feb. 6. Discounted tickets for one or two-hour tubing sessions will be offered to people with a card, available near the register. Proceeds will benefit Justin Grove, who at age 33 was diagnosed with Mantle cell, a rare form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Tubing hours for the benefit are 4 to 10 p.m.

Golf course rep inquires about serving alcohol in ‘dry’ Antrim

A representative for Greens of Greencastle golf course didn't find the encouragement she hoped for at last week’s Antrim Township Board of Supervisors meeting.

Girl Scouts do their duty at Tayamentasachta

Four Junior Girl Scouts from Greencastle earned the Bronze Award for their work making the greenhouse at Tayamentasachta a nicer place for learning.

WHAT'S GOING ON with that pile of dirt at the school?

Some friendly horse-trading took place in December, with Antrim Township taking some of the excess construction soil from the Greencastle-Antrim School District. The pile between the middle and elementary schools diminished somewhat and both entities got a good deal from the exchange.
