Traffic was heavy through Greencastle on U.S. 11 Tuesday evening when a crash on Interstate 81 near Marion forced a detour off the highway.
According to Pennsylvania State Police the 5:03 p.m. accident involved a tractor trailer and a vehicle that was pulled off along the berm at mile marker 13 northbound sending two people to the hospital. Reportedly the rig struck the other vehicle and the driver fled the scene on foot but was apprehended in the restroom of a nearby convenience store. Police said the two people in the vehicle suffered serious injuries and were flown to York Hospital.
Traffic was diverted off the interstate in both directions for a time. The south lane opened by 7:30 p.m. while traffic remained heavy on U.S. 11 through Greencastle with vehicles off the interstate.
